Children these days are busier than ever; running from skating practice to dance class to music lessons. Health and wellness tips are everywhere when it comes to adults but we often think of our kids as healthy and sometimes even invincible. Every tumble, bump, slip and fall has an impact on a child's spine and nervous system. Problems in children will often show up as fatigue, difficulty getting over colds and flus, problems concentrating and re-occurring injuries such as ankle sprains and "growing" (shin) pain. Misalignments in the spine can have an effect on every system of the body including the immune system, digestion, cognition (brain function) and place stress and strain on the muscles and joints of the body.

Children that are involved in sport activities often have additional stress and strain on the body tissues – especially if they are practicing many hours per week and focused on one sport. Dancers for example experience foot and ankle, knee, hip and lower back injuries due to repetitive postures and positions that are practiced week after week. A chiropractic assessment provides information about posture, walking gait, body movement and spinal motion. A functional movement exam will address specific motions necessary for dance such as the motion of the big toe, hip turnout and pelvic stability. Chiropractic adjustments are a safe and gentle way to restore function and movement.

Ensuring children are living each day with good posture and alignment provides their developing brain, nerves, bones and muscles with the support and structure they need to thrive. Regular spinal check-ups and adjustments are effective in preventing injury, increasing energy, returning to sport faster after injury and providing the ultimate performance edge!
