Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a whole person approach to healing.  The interconnections of mind, body and spirit are deeply acknowledged.  This therapy helps your over active nervous system re-set so you can experience greater rest, peace and wholeness.

This involves the practitioner 'listening through the hands' to the body's subtle rhythms and any patterns of inertia or congestion.  Through the development of subtle palpation skills and the ability to enter a deep quiet presence in themselves, the practitioner can ready the story of the body, identify places where issues are held, then follow the natural priorities for healing as directed by the clients physiology.

At the first session you will discuss your current health status and past medical history with your practitioner.  A session then begins by lying on a massage table or in a position of comfort. The practitioner will typically be seated, lightly touching at specific locations such as the ankles, head, shoulders, sacrum (tailbone), or other areas requiring attention. Throughout a session the client normally feels heat variances, subtle movements within the physical body and a release of tension and or stress. It is typical, after a series of sessions, to develop an increased perception of the physical structures of the body in relationship to health.

The Six Key Hormones in Pregnancy and the Importance of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

Pregnancy is guided by a delicate hormonal symphony that prepares the body and mind for birth. Oxytocin is the primary hormone, responsible for stimulating uterine contractions and promoting bonding and feelings of love and safety. Prostaglandins, estrogen, and progesterone help initiate and progress labor, softening tissues and maintaining balance within the body. Relaxin allows the joints and ligaments to loosen, preparing the pelvis for birth, while endorphins act as natural pain relievers, creating calm and resilience through the birthing process. As labor intensifies, adrenaline activates strength and focus for the final stages of delivery.

This hormonal dance is deeply interconnected with the nervous system—and that’s where Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) plays an essential role.

During pregnancy, BCST helps regulate the nervous system, allowing the body to move out of chronic stress states and into parasympathetic balance where oxytocin and endorphins can naturally flourish. By gently releasing tension patterns and supporting fluid movement within the body, Craniosacral therapy encourages optimal hormonal balance, enhances circulation to the uterus and placenta, and supports the baby’s development within a calm, coherent energetic field.

Benefits of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy in Pregnancy:

  • Supports hormonal balance and the body’s natural rhythms of oxytocin and endorphin production.

  • Reduces stress and anxiety, creating a peaceful environment for both mother and baby.

  • Eases common discomforts such as back pain, pelvic tension, and headaches.

  • Enhances sleep, digestion, and circulation, improving overall well-being.

  • Prepares the body for birth by promoting pelvic alignment and fluid movement through the spine and sacrum.

  • Supports emotional connection between mother and baby through deeper states of safety, trust, and relaxation.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy honors the body’s innate intelligence—helping both mother and baby move through the profound changes of pregnancy and birth with greater ease, balance, and grace.
